The Boom or Bust of the Knicks

The Knicks are going to be a big team to keep an eye out for this NBA off-season. With young pieces, a top draft pick in the lottery, and plenty of space to sign some big name free agents, this offseason could be make or break for the New York Knicks.

In a scenario where everything goes right for the Knicks, they end up with the no.1 overall pick and sign two big free agents. In this scenario, they take Zion Williamson no. 1 overall to be their power forward. The biggest name in college basketball would thrive in the Big Apple and would be helped to thrive even more in this scenario by two big name free agents; Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Adding Kyrie and KD to a team like the Knicks would instantly work to make them a contender, and having a player with so much potentially such as Zion right alongside them, they could instantly become a threat in the East.

However, what happens if everything goes wrong for the Knicks? Their pick falls in the lottery, and no one chooses to go to the Big Apple, or they settle for second level free agents, such as a Khris Middleton or a Julius Randle. One of those players likely wouldn't drive that team over the edge, and having a lower pick that could end up being someone such as a RJ Barrett or Jarrett Culver, likely would bring the same impact as a Zion Williamson would. In this scenario, its incredibly likely they're right back in the lottery, still behind many of the teams in the East in their attempt to become a big name franchise again. Whatever ends up happening, it could make or break the Knicks future.
