Is Ole the Man?

Ole Gunnar Solskaer was appointed full-time manager of Manchester United recently. This comes right after an impressive comeback victory in the Champions League against PSG. Solskaer only lost one game between his appointment in December and his hire and has effectively put United back in the race for top-4 and surprisingly the Champions League. But did this decision come too soon? Many United fans seem to think so saying that the club should've waited until the end of the season to make the hire as to not allow Ole or the team become distracted by the hype around it. I think I agree with this. Why change the circumstances of his role when the job he had done thus far has been exceptional save a couple matches? Maybe the board wanted to show their faith in Ole early and hopefully inspire more impressive wins from him. Regardless of if he should've been hired now or later or never, he has a massive task ahead of him to finish the season strong and potentially make some surprises in England and in Europe. Then comes the task of the summer transfer window. United supporters have been calling for "dead wood" players to be removed from the club and Ole seems like he may be the one to do this. But as you get rid of players you also need to bring in new ones. The board has promised OGS a hefty budget for the summer in hopes that the Norwegian can revamp the squad and have the Red Devils competing for titles again next season. Only with time can the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskaer be properly judged, that may mean he needs a full season before we know what his capabilities are. Until then, however, the supporters should back the players and manager and support them through it all.
